What does it do?Normal Goldmine searches are based on the value of a field, for example you might search for all your prospects in London,
which will return everyone who has London in their city field. But London is a big place, and having two contacts in London does not actually mean they are very close to each other, as anyone
who has spent time driving through London traffic can tell you. And
what happens if the city has been entered incorrectly, or someone
has entered one of the London districts instead. Its simple
you will not see them in your search.
Example:
Goldmine Search
| All contacts in 'London' |
| |
| All contacts in london are
returned regardless of exact location. |
| |
|
|
 |
|
| |
Closest Contact Search
Contacts within 5 miles of
'SE9 6SF' |
| |
| Only records within a 5 mile
radius are returned. |
| |
|
 |
|
Closest Contact gets around this limitation by using the Geo-Coded data for each postcode
sector to calculate where your start point is, and then calculates where all the other
records in your database are, then returns only the records within your
chosen distance and in your chosen direction. So providing each
record has a UK postcode, Closest Contact can show you all the
relevant records.
